• This barony is recorded in the Scottish Barony Register (SBR public list of 9 August 2026). Registration records legal title; the Roll is a record of recognition, which does not affect legal title. As a neutral record, the Roll enters a title once the holder has verified by a short scheduled call, seen the Roll's published rules and been offered the Pledge, which is optional. Until then the title is not on the Roll and is on a separate pending list, not yet recognised by this Roll; under the Roll's published rules, listed barons and cooperating organisations recognise only verified titles. • Note that this united Earldom, Lordship and Barony of Arran being a duplicate of the peerage (due to post 1874 conveyancing legal reforms) is recognised here as "baron of" - and by tradition for female barons Lady Arran - following the practice of Lord Lyons historically up to the 2000s, unlike other earldoms there is no recognition from any Lord Lyon for this title, however a differentiated historical spelling could be an option as the original peerage Earl of Arran is extant, and there is no letter from that peer for his permission (if such a letter can be procured then this council could review its decision).

A note on terminology: “Scottish feudal barony” or “feudal title” is an incorrect, defunct historical term for extant barons. Baronies were feudal until 28 November 2004, when feudal baronies were abolished and the dignity of baron was retained — an extant barony is no longer “feudal”.
